Hi there!
I’m not sure how you happened upon this page, but I really appreciate you reading this far and your consideration in supporting me.
I’ve recently hit a point in my life where I feel that I can genuinely pursue making a living through art but I need some help to get up and running. My goal isn’t to make money through selling my art at galleries but rather through local art markets and fairs. However, the financial reality of getting all the stock and supplies that I’d need to have a booth is a bit more than I can comfortably self-fund. I took my time in running the numbers and making projections based on the bare minimum of what I’d need to start as well as mapping out scenarios that would still be sparse but more ideal. What I came up with is that I’d need at least $3,500 to get up and running but would be better off the closer to $7,500 I can get. I realize that as far as starting a business goes this is very little money but it is quite a bit when taking the self-funding route.
What am I looking to fund?
What I need to get started falls into three main categories; photo printing costs, products, and tabling supplies. Below I’ve listed the higher estimates of what I’m looking to fund. Top-tier priorities have an asterisk* after the item. All purchased items will be accounted for in the accountability section.
Photo Printing Costs:
I want to be able to have full control of printing my photos, but purchasing and maintaining printers is not feasible for me. Instead, I’ll be joining a photo lab which will come along with associated fees. In addition, I’ll need to provide my own paper and packaging for prints.
| Photo Lab Membership* | $120 |
| Photo Lab Usage Fee (10 hours)* | $200 |
| Ink Fee (250sq feet) | $1000 |
| Paper Costs | $400 |
| Backing Board & Clear Bags for Prints | $300 |
| Total | $2020 |
Products:
In addition to selling prints, I want to make my art available on products that can be used in daily life. As of right now, I am currently working on receiving samples of products so this list may change as items come in.
| Postcards (60 Designs, 750 ct)* | $300 |
| Notebooks (5 Designs 15 ct)* | $250 |
| Clocks (2 Designs, 4 ct) | $150 |
| Travel Mugs (3 Designs, 9ct) | $300 |
| Desk Mats (2 Designs, 4 ct) | $150 |
| Pillows (3 designs, 6 ct) | $175 |
| Magnets (4 designs, 20 ct) | $225 |
| Keychains (2 designs, 8ct) | $90 |
| Umbrellas (2 designs, 4ct) | $100 |
| Shoulder Bags (1 design, 2ct) | $50 |
| Oversized Tees (1 design, 10 ct) | $300 |
| Sleeveless Button Up (1 design, 10 ct) | $300 |
| Short Sleeve Button Up (1 design, 10 ct) | $300 |
| Crop Top (1 design, 10 ct) | $300 |
| Chiffon Tie Top (1 design, 10 ct) | $300 |
| Velvet Dress (1 design, 10 ct) | $450 |
| Necklaces (2 designs, 20 ct)* | $65 |
| Acrylic Pins (2 designs, 20 ct)* | $45 |
| Stickers (5 designs, 250 ct)* | $325 |
| Total | $4175 |
Tabling Supplies:
In order to assure that I can actually sell prints and products at events, I’ll need to be sure that I can have a set-up for events that don’t provide tables, chairs, or tents. Additionally, I want to be able to assure that I can display my products in an organized and attractive way.
| Displays* | $250 |
| Folding Table & Chairs | $130 |
| Sample Book & Special Order Forms | $70 |
| Custom Table Cloth & Banners | $150 |
| Tent for Outdoor Events | $100 |
| Tabling Fees (5 events) | $625 |
| Total | $1325 |
How can you help?
I considered launching a Kickstarter but with the tax implications, I realized it would be easier for me to launch a fundraiser through my own shop. What that means is that instead of coming up with rewards packages, I have a donation option on my page along with a presale for artist prints and products. Additionally, in-stock items will be available for purchase. This allows you to support in whatever way you see fit without ending up with items you don’t want.

Accountability
How will you know what my donation/purchase will go towards? I’ll update things here!
